The Ukrainian Navy will create a new brigade of mine countermeasure ships

A new mine countermeasures ship brigade will be formed within the Ukrainian Navy.
This was reported by “Militarnyi” with reference to the statement of President Volodymyr Zelenskyy during the solemn events in honor of Ukrainian military sailors.
The basis of the future brigade will be five mine countermeasures ships. These are ships that Ukrainian sailors received within the framework of the Coalition of Maritime Capabilities.
Recall that last month, the Ukrainian Navy received a new mine countermeasures ship “Henichesk”. After the transfer, the Ukrainian Navy already has five mine countermeasures ships – three from Great Britain and two from Belgium and the Netherlands.
“Genichesk” will strengthen the Navy’s capabilities in mine countermeasures – searching, detecting and neutralizing sea mines. After its transfer, the Navy already has five mine countermeasures ships. Previously, the United Kingdom transferred to Ukraine the Sandown-class ships Cherkasy and Chernihiv, and Belgium and the Netherlands transferred the Alkmaar-class ships Melitopol and Mariupol.
