Turkey will again increase the fee for the passage of the Bosphorus and Dardanelles

From July 1, 2024, the cost of passage of ships through the Bosphorus and Dardanelles will be increased by 14.7%.

This was announced by the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure of Turkey.

The fee for the passage of ships through the Bosphorus and Dardanelles straits without stopping will increase 6.3 times compared to 2022.

Thus, before the first indexation of the tariff (from 1983 to 2022), a vessel with a cargo capacity of 10 thousand tons was charged a total of $3.24 thousand, and after July 1, 2024, such a vessel will pay about $20.4 thousand.

“In this way, we will increase the inflow of foreign currency to our state treasury,” said Transport Minister Abdulkadira Uraloglu.

We will remind, according to the decree of the President of Turkey, from 2022, the size of the fees will be updated every year. Last year, the entrance fee was raised by 8.8%.
