Turkish ports reduced handling of Ukrainian cargo in August
In August 2023, the ports of Turkey halved cargo transshipment in connection with Ukraine compared to July of this year — to 253.7 thousand tons.
This is evidenced by the data of the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure of Turkey, writes Rail.insider.
The volume of cargo traffic was affected by the drop in the flow of imported cargo, which was reduced by more than three times: the country’s ports accepted 113.9 thousand tons of cargo against 358.4 thousand tons in July.
Turkish ports sent 128,800 tons of cargo for export, compared to 142,100 tons in the previous month.
The transit cargo flow was 11 thousand tons against 7.29 thousand tons in July.
According to statistical data, container traffic between the ports of Turkey and Ukraine in August amounted to 1,028 TEU against 394 TEU in the previous month.
