Ukraine and Estonia have agreed to cooperate on IT solutions for the maritime sector

The Shipping Administration and the Estonian Center for International Development (ESTDEV) have signed a memorandum of cooperation.

This was  announced by the Acting Head of the Shipping Administration, Mykola Kravchuk.

He noted that the conclusion of the agreement is one of the steps in the implementation of the Memorandum of Understanding in the field of implementation of the Recovery Plan for the Maritime Industry of Ukraine, which was signed by the Deputy Prime Minister for Restoration of Ukraine Oleksiy Kuleba and the Minister of Infrastructure of Estonia in Odesa in January 2025.

Digital transformation is one of the components of the reconstruction of the Ukrainian maritime cluster. In accordance with the Recovery Plan, the Shipping Administration will work on the creation of a ship register and a database of ship inspections, for the development of which Estonian colleagues will conduct a feasibility study.

The parties agreed to ensure the necessary exchange of information and consultations in order to create appropriate IT solutions.

The memorandum will become the foundation for joint participation with Estonian partners in negotiations to find donors and implement a joint project, Kravchuk noted.
