Ukraine completed the reconstruction of the checkpoint Reni

Now Ukrainian and Moldovan control services will work together on this PP.

The “Reni” automobile checkpoint is ready for the launch of joint customs and border control between Ukraine and Moldova. This was reported in the press service of the Ministry of Reconstruction.

The launch of a full-fledged joint control is the first step for the implementation of the “green corridor” initiative between the Ukrainian checkpoint “Reni”, the Moldovan “Giurgiulesti” and the Romanian “Galati”.

The launch of joint control will allow to increase the throughput capacity of this section of the border. Currently, no more than 50 trucks pass through “Reni” per day. Ukraine plans to increase this number by at least two times, commented Deputy Minister of Infrastructure Serhiy Derkach.

In addition to trucks, buses will also undergo joint control, for which a separate lane with a terminal is provided at the checkpoint. This will reduce the waiting time for passengers.

It will be recalled that Ukraine, Romania and Moldova started negotiations on the creation of a “green corridor” between the Reni-Giurgiulesti-Galatz checkpoints at the end of October 2023.

The plan for launching the “green corridor” includes the construction of the Reni checkpoint, the reconstruction of the Reni-Galati road and its expansion from 2 to 4 lanes, as well as additional technical equipment at the checkpoints.
