Ukraine sent more than 15 million grains to countries suffering from hunger
During the five months of work of the Grain Initiative, Ukraine saved more than 40 countries of the world from starvation.
“Ukraine is gradually becoming a leader in ensuring global food security. This year showed that without Ukrainian agricultural exports it is impossible to guarantee food and social security for dozens of countries in Africa, Asia and Europe. Two of our initiatives: the export Grain initiative and the Grain from Ukraine program have returned the world to vital stability,” said President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
As part of the Grain initiative, in just five months, in the conditions of a full-scale war, more than 15 million tons of Ukrainian food were sent for export to more than forty countries around the world.
To implement the Grain from Ukraine program, more than 30 donor countries have already united and collected 200 million dollars. “The European Union and Qatar, Turkey and Japan, Norway and Korea, Canada and the USA are just the beginning of a global humanitarian corridor for countries facing the threat of famine. Famine because of russia,” added the President.
“Ukraine must always look for ways to show leadership, how to involve other states, and every such success will strengthen our security, will strengthen the external position of our state. But also internal,” Zelenskyy emphasized.
