Varamar, a company with Ukrainian roots, acquired its first own vessels

Varamar has entered the ship-owning business for the first time, acquiring four vessels.

Splash 24/7 reports.

The Antwerp-based company with Ukrainian roots has acquired four multi-purpose vessels with a deadweight of 5,200 tons each. Before that, Varamar operated mainly on an asset-light model, chartering and operating third-party tonnage.

The vessels were acquired under separate agreements. They are expected to be integrated into Varamar’s commercial network in late 2026 – early 2027.

The company notes that its own fleet should provide more flexibility in working with clients and reduce dependence on the volatile freight market.

Varamar operates in the breakbulk, dry bulk, project cargo and heavylift segments. Its commercial network covers Europe, America, Africa, the Middle East and Asia.

The transition to ship ownership should allow the company to secure long-term capacity and support further growth.

The acquired vessels will operate under the commercial management of MPP Shipping. They will form the basis of Varamar’s own fleet, and the company does not rule out further expansion depending on market conditions.

USM previously reported that the Agroprosperis group of companies has acquired its first handysize.
