The Russians are speculating on the Grain Agreement while their exports are growing

Russia is blackmailing the world by disrupting the Black Sea grain initiative. At the same time, its own exports doubled.

At a meeting of the UN Security Council, the humanitarian consequences of the Russian-Ukrainian war were considered, reports Укрінформ.Ukrinform.

According to the Permanent Representative of Ukraine to the UN, Serhiy Kislytsia, Russia is still pretending to lose in the Grain Agreement.

“I will not even remind the Security Council about the immorality of such complaints from the aggressor state, which was and remains the only threat to food supplies on the Black Sea,” Kyslytsia emphasized.

In January-February 2023, the export of Russian wheat almost doubled compared to the same period last year.

“We consider these speculations an attempt to whitewash Russia’s purposeful actions aimed at using food supplies as a weapon, and we call on the international community to give a decisive response,” commented the representative of Ukraine at the UN.

He also reminded that the Russian Federation prevents the transportation of Ukrainian grain by sea. Thus, the work of the “grain corridor” actually stopped in May. According to him, the date of May 18, to which the Grain Agreement was extended, was determined only because of Russia’s position.

“The Black Sea grain initiative does not end this week. But this week is the deadline for Russian blackmail,” concluded Serhiy Kyslytsia.

As previously reported by USM, the UN does not have a “plan B”  in case Russia withdraws from the Grain Agreement.
