Imports of search and rescue vessels from abroad may be exempt from taxation

Ukraine can exempt search and rescue vessels and drones imported from abroad from payment of import duty and VAT.
On June 30, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine adopted as a basis the project of the Law on Amendments to Article 197 of the Tax Code of Ukraine. According to the document, ships, aircraft and equipment for them brought to the territory of Ukraine will be partially exempt from taxation. This was reported in the press service of the Apparatus of the Verkhovna Rada.
The only condition for providing benefits on the payment of import duty and VAT is the use of equipment exclusively as search and rescue units.
The new draft law can significantly facilitate the fulfillment of Ukraine’s international obligations in the sphere of protection of human life at sea.
