The UN is planning a meeting with the parties to the Grain Agreement in Istanbul
Martin Griffiths, head of UN aid, plans to meet in Istanbul with the parties to the Black Sea Grain Agreement.
Griffiths announced such intentions during a briefing on Friday, July 7, Voice of America writes. In turn, the spokesman of the UN Secretary General, Farhan Haq, emphasized the “indispensable role of the export of food and fertilizers from Russia and Ukraine in maintaining global food security.”
Farhan Haq also recalled the importance of “full and permanent implementation of the agreements signed in Istanbul in July 2022”.
“These agreements are an all-too-rare demonstration of what the world can do when it focuses on the big challenges of our time,” the spokesman said.
Haq also noted that the agreement contributes to the reduction of world food prices.
