The State Department condemned Russia’s provocation regarding “Sukra Okan”
The US State Department condemned the provocative actions of the Russian fleet regarding the dry cargo ship “Sukra Okan” in the Black Sea, which was headed for the Ukrainian port of Izmail.
The State Department called Russia’s actions “an unacceptable escalation,” said Vedant Patel, a representative of the US State Department.
“In our opinion, this is an unacceptable escalation, which once again demonstrates Moscow’s responsibility for the fact that the grain does not reach the place where it should be delivered,” the official said .
The deputy representative of the US State Department recalled that, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, since the termination of Russia’s participation in the Black Sea Grain Initiative, the aggressor country attacked 26 Ukrainian port infrastructure facilities and destroyed more than 220,000 tons of grain.
The representative of the State Department added that Washington continues to “carefully monitor this situation.”
“And we are, of course, concerned that the Russian military may expand its targeting of Ukrainian grain facilities to include attacks on civilian vessels in the Black Sea,” he said.
Patel emphasized that the Russian Federation should “immediately rejoin the Black Sea Grain Initiative.”
We will remind, on August 13, the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation announced that it had stopped a foreign ship in the Black Sea, which was going to the port of Izmail in Odesa Rgion.
