Between Ukraine and Moldova, the border crossing procedure for freight trains has been simplified

Changes have been made to the agreement between Ukraine and Moldova on the operation of railway transport, which will allow for transit transportation under a simplified procedure.

The approved changes will allow transit transportation on the Etulia (Moldova) – Reni (Ukraine) – Giurgiulesti (Moldova) section, without a three-day stop in Reni. This will apply to rolling stock heading from the stations of the Republic of Moldova and Ukraine or transiting through their territories in the direction of Moldovan Giurgiulesti and Romanian Galac Larg.

In addition, such changes will help significantly increase the export potential of the ports of the Danube cluster, noted the Ministry of Community Development, Territories and Infrastructure of Ukraine.

“At the same time, we are focusing our efforts on the restoration and development of the infrastructure of the sea ports of Izmail and Reni to expand the range of cargo,” said Minister of Infrastructure Oleksandr Kubrakov.

The approved changes will also contribute to increasing the capacity of the Fricacei-Etulia and Reni-Giurgiulesti checkpoints.
