Ukrainian farmers called on the EU to lift the ban on the import of products

Україна скоротила експорт агропродукції на 9 млн тонн

“Ukrainian Club of Agrarian Business” and other specialized organizations appealed to representatives of the European Commission with a call to remove restrictions on the import of Ukrainian agricultural products.

It is noted that the agricultural community of Ukraine calls on the EU not to extend the ban on the import of individual agricultural products, to increase the efficiency of transit corridors and to establish a constructive dialogue to find alternative solutions to increase mutually beneficial cooperation.

“The agricultural community of Ukraine is deeply concerned about the latest statements of individual EU member states regarding the potential extension of the ban on the import of certain types of agricultural products to 5 EU member states, which creates additional challenges for the Ukrainian agricultural sector,” the UCAB noted.

The organization notes that geographically, all new logistics routes that have been established within the framework of the “Roads of Solidarity” initiative pass through the territory of five EU member states neighboring Ukraine.

They became the initiators of the introduction by the European Commission of a ban on the import of Ukrainian grain to individual EU member states. UCAB notes that as a result of such a ban, not only the export of Ukrainian grain to such individual EU member states, but also its transit through the territory of these countries has decreased. As of the end of August, transit volumes have still not reached the level of March 2023.

“Blocking the transit of any agro-food products from Ukraine will have a significant impact on the economic, social and defense situation. That is why the Ukrainian agrarian sector considers the further attempts of the governments of individual EU member states to extend the ban on the import of Ukrainian grain to be unacceptable,” the UCAB noted.
