The port of Constanta is preparing to receive twice as much Ukrainian grain

The volume of Ukrainian grain entering the port of Constanta from the Danube ports is planned to increase.

Minister of Infrastructure Oleksandr Kubrakov officially visited the Romanian port of Constanta. The official announced this on his Facebook page.

This port is one of the largest Black Sea ports and a key logistics center for Ukrainian agricultural exports. According to him, more than a million tons of grain enters here every month from the Ukrainian Danube ports and is sent further around the world. These volumes can be doubled.

“The necessary steps for this were discussed today during a meeting in a quadrilateral format: Romania – USA – European Commission – Ukraine with the participation of Moldova. The key is the organization of additional raid transshipments in the port of Constanta and the maximum efficient operation of the Sulina canal – without long-term waiting for ships to pass,” the minister said.

Both decisions are planned to be implemented within the next two months.

Oleksandr Kubrakov explained that this is a win-win solution both for Romania, which will earn from the transit of ships, and for Ukraine, which will receive additional export opportunities. The parties also discussed the reconstruction of the “Reni – Giurgiulesti – Galats” checkpoint.

“This is the fastest way of connecting three countries, Ukraine and Romania (Galati port) through the territory of Moldova. Implementation of the project will increase throughput by almost half. An action plan was defined through CEF (Connecting Europe Facility) tools. The parties discussed further steps to improve rail and road connections,” the official emphasized.

He also added that the focus remains on the Agreement on Joint Control between Ukraine and Romania. For countries, this may mean speeding up the flow of goods and passengers, and practical steps for Ukrainian European integration.
