25 thousand tons of Ukrainian grain will be sent to Nigeria
A cargo of Ukrainian grain is being prepared for shipment from the Turkish port of Samsun to Nigeria as part of the Grain from Ukraine program.
“This grain was delivered from one of the ports in Ukraine during the Black Sea Grain Initiative. Now it is stored in Turkey within the framework of the UN World Food Program. It is important for us that we cooperate with the World Food Program to supply grain to countries such as Nigeria,” Ukrainian Ambassador to Turkey Vasyl Bodnar told Ukrinform.
After visiting the port and the vessel Fuat Sezgin, which will deliver the cargo to Nigeria, Bondar said that a total of 60 more vessels are planned to be sent from various ports.
“This initiative will be implemented to the extent that the grain will be used, whether from the ports of Turkey or from other ports where it is currently stored. The key coordinator is the UN World Food Program, which uses loading opportunities either from Ukrainian ports or from those that were previously bought or stored in Turkey or in other countries,” he said.
A representative of the UN World Food Program in Turkey also visited the port in Samsun and observed the work on packing and shipping grain. The cargo will arrive in Nigeria in a month.
