ZIM invests in container tracking devices
Following the escalation of the conflict in the Red Sea and an increase in piracy in the African region, ZIM will place tracking devices on its container ships.
Israeli carrier ZIM has announced the installation of the latest container tracking devices on its vessels. This is stated on the carrier’s website.
The company recalled that in 2022 ZIM invested in the tracker developer Hoopo Systems. Now, on January 9, ZIM and Hoopo Systems have signed an agreement to install trackers on containers in ZIM’s Dry-Van fleet. The devices will provide customers with complete tracking information, including geo-location and container opening/closing notifications.
“Our unwavering mission has been to develop a tracking solution for the maritime industry that provides the most reliable data and boasts an extended lifetime equal to the lifetime of the container. We prioritize our commitment to innovation by introducing cutting-edge technologies and ensuring seamless upgrades as new technologies emerge,” commented Hoopo Systems CEO Ittai Hayut on the deal.
