Moldovan farmers blocked the Leusheni-Albitsa checkpoint on the border with Romania. This was reported by the News Maker media.
The border police of Moldova called on the protesters to respect the rights of citizens and the laws of the country.
“With these arbitrary actions, the protesters restricted people’s right to free movement. Currently, 136 heavy-duty trucks, five buses and four minibuses are blocked at the border, and 130 passengers cannot continue their journey,” the border guards reported.
More than 230 vehicles were diverted to other checkpoints.
The “Farmers’ Power” association initiated protests across the country. Agrarians demand from the Moldovan government to provide at least 400 million lei to small and medium-sized farmers. According to the protesters, the need for compensation is due to the crisis caused by the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
Recently, Poland announced that it will begin mandatory inspection of all Ukrainian grain transiting through the country. According to the authorities, Ukrainian grain goes to Germany, but later returns to Poland at European prices.
