Ukrainian sailors certificates will be recognized in Portugal
Ukraine and Portugal signed a Memorandum on mutual recognition of diplomas and certificates of seafarers.
The memorandum was signed on Tuesday, April 23, the Shipping Administration reported.
“During the meeting with General Director Jose Simao, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the State Service of Maritime and Inland Water Transport and Shipping of Ukraine and the General Directorate of Natural Resources, Safety and Maritime Services of the Republic of Portugal on the mutual recognition of Diplomas/Certificates of seafarers issued in accordance with the International Convention on the training and certification of seafarers and watchkeeping of 1978, with amendments,” the message reads.
The corresponding interdepartmental agreement creates a legal mechanism to simplify the procedure for confirming the qualifications of Ukrainian sailors to work on ships flying the flag of the Portuguese Republic.
As previously reported by USM, from April 2024, Ukrainian sailors can get advice without an electronic queue by contacting the information window.
