Several hundred dolphins died in the Black Sea in two months

Dolphins continue to die due to the activity of enemy submarines and ships near the coast of Crimea.

Currently, it is extremely rare to see cetaceans in the Black Sea, reports Doctor of Biological Sciences Ivan Rusev.

In March and April of this year, several hundred dolphins died only in the bays of Sevastopol and other shores of Crimea occupied by the Russians.

“Among those detected are contused animals with symptoms of sonar damage. Among the dead are many bottlenose dolphins. “Azov and bottlenose dolphins, which died during the war in the Russian-occupied waters of the Black Sea, were also thrown off the shores of Bulgaria, which were washed by the current to the shores of Bulgaria,” said the Doctor of Biological Sciences.

He also noted that this confirms the fact that the activity of enemy submarines and surface boats in that part of the Black Sea near Crimea, Novorossiysk, is the main factor in the continued death of rare Black Sea cetaceans.

So, since the beginning of 2024, the number of dead dolphins may reach several thousand animals.

It will be recalled that 130 bodies of dead marine mammals were discovered in March.
