DTEK signed a contract to import LNG from the United States

The DTEK energy holding concluded a contract with an American company for the import of liquefied gas.

DTEK agreed on the import of LNG with the American company Venture Global, LIGA.net reports with reference to the FT.

Venture Global plans to export liquefied gas from terminals on the coast of the Gulf of Mexico in the United States to many ports in Europe, in particular to Greece, which has a pipeline to Ukraine.

It is not yet known what volumes DTEK will import. Deliveries should begin this year and continue until at least the end of 2026.

“Thanks to this landmark agreement, we will help strengthen Ukraine’s gas supply security, promote further recovery and economic growth in the region, and further strengthen European energy security,” commented Mike Sabel, CEO of Venture Global.

In the middle of the year, Venture Global plans to put into operation the Plakmin gas plant, which will supply DTEK.

FT also claims that DTEK is going to buy up to 2 million tons of LNG from the future Venture Global CP2 plant, the contract is planned for 20 years.

Previously, USM reported that DTEK Energo contracted more than 300,000 tons of thermal coal from Poland in the winter.
