Ukraine will not agree to ship inspections in the new grain agreement, — Bodnar

Turkey still hopes for the restoration of the Black Sea Grain Initiative. However, Ukraine has completely different views on this.

Ukraine will not agree to any control and inspection of vessels departing from Ukrainian ports. This was stated by the Ambassador of Ukraine to Turkey, Vasyl Bodnar, Ukragrokonsult reports.

He said that Ukraine’s creation of its own corridor in the Black Sea stimulates partners to build other routes. Currently, ships pass through the waters of Bulgaria, Romania and Turkey, but there is talk of creating a safer route.

According to Bodnar, the only thing that does not suit the Ukrainian side is a return to the conditions within the first grain corridor. Ukraine will never agree to control and inspection of ships leaving Ukrainian ports, the ambassador emphasized.

Bodnar noted that the negotiations on this matter are part of the preparation for the Conference on Food Security. The event will take place in Turkey at the end of August.

At the first Peace Summit, it was agreed that global security issues would be worked out in a working group, and a certain forum would focus specifically on the security of agricultural producers, ports and shipping.
