A Russian ship violated the maritime borders of Finland
A Russian research vessel is suspected of violating Finland’s maritime borders. The incident took place in the Eastern part of the Gulf of Finland.
According to the border guard, it is about the Russian research vessel “Mikhail Kazansky”, reports Yle.
It entered the territorial waters of Finland in the area south of Hamin.
The border crossing was recorded by the surveillance systems of the border guard, as well as the coast guard patrol. The vessel traveled about 1.2 nautical miles in Finnish territorial waters.
The coast guard patrol boat was near the Russian vessel during the incident. Several attempts were also made to contact him by radio, but the attempts were unsuccessful.
