After a seven-day closure of Sulina, about 80 vessels have accumulated at the roadstead

After the resumption of the Sulina Canal, vessel traffic is gradually recovering, but about 80 vessels are still waiting at the Sulina roadstead, and about 40 more are inside the Danube.
This was reported by Avalon Shipping Operations Manager Kateryna Kononenko.
According to her, over the past two days, the traffic has been focused mainly on the exit of vessels from the Danube. Today, about seven more vessels are also expected to exit.
At the same time, new groups of vessels are already waiting. Vessels entering the Sulina roadstead from the canal should also resume.
The canal remained closed for seven days before that. According to Kononenko, if formalities were allowed to be carried out at the 44th or 64th mile during this period, about 35–40 vessels could be registered and sent to sea immediately after the resumption of navigation.
Due to the current order, after long closures, queues accumulate simultaneously at the entrance and exit of the canal. Vessels also continue to await pilots, while shipowners are charged daily for additional war risk insurance.
Earlier, USM reported that about 125 vessels had accumulated at Sulina due to a week-long break in navigation.
