Ukraine exports almost all ilmenite to the USA and Mexico


Ukraine exports almost all ilmenite to the United States and Mexico for the global giant Chemours.

From Ukraine, 90% of ilmenite is sent to the USA and Mexico, where its final consumer is the Chemours giant, Yehor Perelyhin, head of the board of the OGHC, told LIGA in an interview.

According to him, since the beginning of the year, Ukraine has sold more than 50,000 tons of ilmenite from Vilnohorsk HMC, and more than 60,000 tons from Irshansk.

Also, as of September, the stockpile of ilmenite in the port of Constanţa in Romania has accumulated. There are cargoes in the port of Pivdennyi, some of them are taken to Izmail and Chornomorsk.

JSC “United Mining and Chemical Company” was established by the government of Ukraine in 2014 to merge the Vilnohirskyi and Irshansky mining and processing plants, which were returned to state ownership after leasing. The Irshan mining and beneficiation plant specializes in mining and beneficiation of ilmenite ores (titanium ore), Vilnohirsky is an enterprise for the production of rare metal concentrates. The main structural unit is mining, which works out deposits in an open manner with subsequent land reclamation.

USM previously reported that the state is preparing for the privatization of JSC “United Mining and Chemical Company” and LLC “Demurinsky Mining and Processing Plant”.
