Russia provided satellite data to the Houthis to attack ships in the Red Sea, WSJ
Russia provided the Yemeni Houthis with satellite data that helped them carry out attacks on civilian vessels in the Red Sea.
This was reported by The Wall Street Journal with reference to its sources.
The satellite information, according to the WSJ, was passed on to members of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, who are in Yemen and working with the Houthis. Experts believe that such a step demonstrates the readiness of Russian President Vladimir Putin to destabilize the Western order led by the United States.
Alexander Gabuev, director of Carnegie Russia in Berlin, notes that the worsening of the situation in the world is beneficial for Russia, as it diverts the attention of the international community from the war in Ukraine.
The WSJ also reports that Russia is discussing the possible supply of Onyx anti-ship missiles and other weapons to the Yemeni Houthis through Iran.
Earlier, USM reported that the US has imposed sanctions against individuals and companies associated with the Houthis.
