The Cabinet of Ministers approved the plan for implementing the Maritime Security Strategy of Ukraine
The strategy aims to protect the coast, inland waters, restore infrastructure and counter Russian aggression.
The decision was announced by the head of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, Rustem Umerov.
“The document aims to ensure the implementation of the tasks and goals defined by the strategy, which was approved by the National Security and Defense Council and put into effect by presidential decree,” the message says.
The main objectives of the plan:
• strengthening the capacity of the security and defense sector of Ukraine, the Navy of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the Maritime Guard of the State Border Guard of Ukraine to counter aggression and respond to other threats to maritime security
• deoccupation of temporarily occupied territories of the coast, inland waters and the continental shelf of Ukraine
• obtaining compensation for losses caused by the aggressor and the restoration of marine and river infrastructure damaged as a result of the war.
“I thank everyone who participated in the development of this important document. Together we are bringing closer the moment when the Black and Azov Seas will again be completely free and safe for Ukraine,” Umerov noted.
Earlier, we reported that the government has created a working group to implement the Maritime Security Strategy of Ukraine.
