Russia has launched the tanker “Engineer-Admiral Kotov”, which became the third in a series of ships of the project 23130.
The tanker “Engineer-Admiral Kotov” was launched at the Nevskyi Shipbuilding and Ship Repair Plant in Russia. This was reported by “Militarnyi”.
The new tanker is designed to meet the needs of the Russian Navy. The lead ship of this project, “Akademik Pashin”, entered the fleet in January 2020. The next serial tankers, “Vasily Nikitin” and “Engineer-Admiral Kotov”, were laid down in 2021 and 2022, respectively. The fourth ship of this series – “Alexey Shein” – began construction in March 2023.
All ships of the project 23130 are being built under a contract with the Russian Ministry of Defense, concluded on December 17, 2020.
“Engineer Admiral Kotov” is a single-deck ship with a double hull, adapted for operation in northern latitudes. It is designed to transport both marine and aviation fuel.
The tanker is 30 meters long, 21 meters wide. The ship has a cruising range of 9,000 nautical miles, an autonomy of 60 days, and a maximum speed of 18 knots. The crew consists of 24 people.
One of the key functions of the tanker is to escort aircraft carriers. It can transfer various types of cargo without the need to moor to other ships.
The day before, USM wrote that Russian military personnel were drowning while trying to land on the Dnipro islands.
