Grain trade volumes between Ukraine and the EU hit a record high


The volume of agricultural trade between Ukraine and the European Union in 2024 reached almost $17 billion, exceeding previous figures.

In 2024, agricultural trade between Ukraine and the EU reached a historic high of almost $17 billion. This was reported by the Deputy Director of the Institute of Agrarian Economics Mykola Pugachev, Elevatorist writes.

The trade indicator according to the results of last year is the highest since the entry into force of the Association Agreement and is 3% more than the previous record of 2022.

Spain, Poland, the Netherlands, Germany, Italy, Romania, France and Belgium became Ukraine’s key trading partners among the EU countries. These countries account for 80% of all agricultural trade between Ukraine and the European Union.

Ukraine also significantly increased its imports of agricultural products from the EU, which increased by 9% compared to 2023 and reached $4 billion.

Among the main categories of imports, dairy products traditionally lead. In particular, cheese purchases in 2023 amounted to $225 million, which provided 7% of all food imports from the EU. The total volume of dairy imports increased by 8% compared to last year. The Ukrainian market also imported finished grain products worth $258 million.

In general, the main categories of imported agricultural products formed 61% of the value of all food imports from the EU.

Earlier, USM reported that the Ministry of Agricultural Policy named the minimum prices for export grain in February.
