The owner of the tanker that sank in the Kerch Strait will appeal the lifting of part of the vessel

The owner of the tanker “Volgoneft-239”, which sank in the Kerch Strait, will challenge the lifting of the bow of the vessel in court.
The case will be considered in the Arbitration Court of the Krasnodar Territory of the Russian Federation, Russian media reports.
The court received a statement of claim from CJSC “Volgatransneft” against the Sea Ports Administration of the Sea of Azov and the acting captain of the Kavkaz seaport. The plaintiff is trying to challenge the refusal of the acting captain of the port, set out in a letter dated March 6, and to annul the demand dated April 16, according to which the regional authorities must remove the bow of the sunken tanker “Volgoneft-239”, which is the property of the plaintiff.
A preliminary court hearing in the case was scheduled for May 29.
Recall that in March, the Russian authorities announced the completion of the dismantling of the stern of the tanker “Volgoneft-239”, which sank in the Kerch Strait.
On December 15, 2024, two Russian tankers sank in the Kerch Strait. The first to sink was the Volgoneft-212 tanker, which was carrying 4 tons of oil. An hour later, a storm hit the Volgoneft-239.
