New Zealand imposes sanctions against Russia’s shadow fleet: 27 vessels hit

Wellington has increased pressure on Russian oil logistics and its international allies by introducing a new package of restrictions.
The New Zealand Foreign Ministry announced the introduction of new sanctions, the key target of which is the Russian “shadow fleet”. This is reported by “Ukrinform”.
The list includes 27 such vessels involved in the illegal trade in Russian oil in circumvention of Western sanctions. In addition, restrictions have been imposed on 18 individuals and legal entities involved in the Russian defense sector, including representatives of Belarus, Iran and North Korea, who contribute to the Kremlin’s military efforts.
Among the companies that have been sanctioned are the drone manufacturer Aeroscan, the aircraft designer A.S. Yakovlev OKB and the Kalashnikov concern.
Since the beginning of the full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine, New Zealand has updated its sanctions lists more than 35 times. Today, the restrictions cover more than 1,800 people and about 400 companies, including financial institutions, media and Russian defense enterprises.
The day before, USM reported that Australia had for the first time banned vessels of the Russian “shadow fleet” from entering its ports.
