The Navy explained the probability of a Russian landing in the Odesa region

Russian drone attacks on Vylkove and Bessarabia raise concerns about a landing, but the Ukrainian Navy has its own response.

Against the backdrop of regular attacks on the coastal areas of the Odesa region, concerns are growing in the region about a possible scenario of a Russian landing. However, the Navy categorically rejects such risks at the moment. This was stated by the spokesman for the Ukrainian Navy, Dmytro Pletenchuk, in a comment to Bessarabia INFORM.

There are several reasons. First, Ukrainian forces have significantly reduced the landing potential of the Russian Black Sea Fleet – some ships have been destroyed, others have been damaged. Secondly, the territorial sea of Ukraine is under fire control of the Ukrainian Armed Forces to a depth of at least 100 nautical miles.

In addition, a full-scale landing operation is possible only in coordination with a ground offensive, and there are no signs of such a group nearby.

“Even if we imagine that the enemy reached the land of the Odesa region, this does not guarantee a successful landing operation. If they could not do it in 2022, when we had fewer resources, then now they will repeat the fate of the cruiser Moskva,” the spokesman concluded.

Also, as USM wrote the day before, the captain of the Russian ship was suspected of war crimes during the capture of the rescue crew near Zmiinyi.
