USPA and European partners signed an agreement on the modernization of Ukrainian ports

Memorandum with Ukrainian Reconstruction Consortium paves the way for “smart” ports and Ukraine’s inclusion in the TEN-T transport network.
During the International Conference on Reconstruction of Ukraine (URC-2025) in Rome, the USPA and the Ukrainian Reconstruction Consortium signed a memorandum on strategic partnership for the restoration and development of port infrastructure. This was reported by the press service of the agency.
Among the key areas of cooperation are the involvement of leading Italian and European companies in the modernization of ports, the implementation of international standards, the automation of logistics processes, as well as the creation of partnerships between Ukrainian and European ports.
The agreement provides, in particular:
• implementation of joint infrastructure projects,
• integration of Ukrainian ports into the European transport network TEN-T,
• attraction of financing from the EIB, EBRD, World Bank and European funds,
• implementation of environmental and innovative solutions in the field of maritime transportation,
• consultations on the adaptation of Ukrainian maritime legislation in accordance with EU, IMO and UNCTAD standards.
Particular emphasis was placed on the implementation of “green” and “smart” technologies in ports, which includes automated cargo handling, digital logistics and increasing the energy efficiency of port infrastructure.
The memorandum also provides for the exchange of experience and technical partnership to ensure the sustainable and safe recovery of Ukraine’s maritime industry.
