USPA expands cooperation with Italian ports: two new memorandums signed

Agreements with the administrations of Trieste and Genoa open up new opportunities for the digital transformation of Ukrainian ports.

The USPA signed memorandums of cooperation with the Eastern Adriatic Port Authority and the Western Ligurian Port Authority during the International Conference on the Reconstruction of Ukraine (URC-2025) in Rome, the press service of the agency reported.

The Eastern Adriatic Port Authority manages the Italian ports of Trieste and Monfalcone. In particular, the port of Trieste is one of the largest cargo hubs in Italy, is part of the European transport network TEN-T and is distinguished by the implementation of digital technologies and deep-sea infrastructure.

The Port Authority of the Western Ligurian Sea, which includes the ports of Genoa, Savona, Pra’ and Vado Ligure, implements large-scale infrastructure and environmental projects, actively develops intermodal connections and public-private partnerships.

The concluded memoranda provide for:

• development of long-term cooperation between ports,

• exchange of best practices and experience,

• support for the digital transformation of the port industry of Ukraine,

• adaptation to EU standards and strengthening integration into the TEN-T logistics space.

“A full-scale war leaves no time for slow reforms. We must simultaneously protect critical infrastructure and modernize it. These memoranda open up new opportunities for digitalization, the implementation of modern logistics solutions and the adaptation of ports to new challenges,” commented the head of the USPA, Oleksandr Semirga.

Prior to this, the USPA and European partners signed an agreement on the modernization of Ukrainian ports.
