The High Anti-Corruption Court upheld the sentence of the former head of the Berdyansk port

The High Anti-Corruption Court upheld the execution of the sentence, which convicted the former head of the Berdyansk branch of the State Administrative Court of Ukraine “USPA” Oleksandr Barchan.

As reported by “Slovo i dilo”, the corresponding decision was made on August 28 by the Cassation Criminal Court of the Supreme Court.

Barchan’s defense lawyer requested to suspend the execution of the sentence, but the court refused to grant this request.

Earlier, the High Anti-Corruption Court acquitted Barchan and the former director of the Dnipro branch of the enterprise “Elektropivdenmontazh” Natalia Panchenko in the case of embezzlement in the amount of UAH 2.5 million. However, the Appellate Chamber of the Supreme Anti-Corruption Court overturned this decision and adopted a new sentence: Barchan was sentenced to four years in prison, and Panchenko – three.

The Supreme Court decision states: “To refuse to grant the motion of the defense counsel, acting in the interests of the convicted person, to suspend the execution of the verdict of the Appellate Chamber of the High Anti-Corruption Court of May 19, 2025.”

Thus, the verdicts against the former officials remain valid and subject to execution.

Earlier, USM reported that the former head of the Berdyansk port was taken into custody after the new verdict of the High Anti-Corruption Court.
