Svyrydenko called for tough sanctions against Russia’s “shadow fleet” at US-EU meeting

The restrictions should apply not only to Russian companies, but also to oil refineries in third countries, traders and intermediaries.
Ukrainian Prime Minister Yulia Sviridenko, during a meeting of representatives of the United States and the European Union, called for the introduction of tough sanctions against the Russian “shadow fleet”, oil giants and traders that help Moscow circumvent restrictions. She reported this on Telegram.
The event was opened by US President Donald Trump, and Sviridenko took part in it at the invitation of US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessant. She emphasized that the losses of the Russian economy from sanctions have already exceeded $160 billion, but this is not enough to deter Russia’s military capabilities.
“Only decisive measures can reduce Russia’s resources for waging war against Ukraine and put an end to daily crimes and terror,” the Prime Minister emphasized.
Recall that US President Donald Trump previously stated his readiness to increase sanctions pressure on Russia, but experts suggest that only symbolic steps may be adopted in the near future.
Also, the day before, USM wrote that Germany and France are proposing EU sanctions against Lukoil.
