The EU has presented its 19th package of sanctions, restrictions also apply to the Russian “shadow fleet”

Brussels’ new measures also include sanctions against crypto exchanges, third-country banks and Chinese companies that help the Russian military-industrial complex.

The European Union is preparing the 19th package of sanctions against Russia, among which restrictions on 118 vessels of the “shadow fleet” occupy a key place. This was announced by European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen.

They are used by Moscow to circumvent price restrictions and illegally transport oil.

In addition, a complete ban on all transactions with energy giants Rosneft and Gazproneft is planned. Separate sanctions are envisaged against cryptocurrency platforms through which the Russian Federation is trying to circumvent financial restrictions.

The document also contains provisions on third countries, in particular China, that supply Russia with components for the defense complex. It is expected that additional restrictions will also affect a number of banks in Russia and abroad, in order to strengthen control over the Kremlin’s financial flows.

Also the day before, USM wrote that Australia had tightened sanctions against Russian oil and the “shadow fleet.”
