Humanitarian initiative Grain From Ukraine will move to a new format: details

The new format will be called Food from Ukraine and will involve the export of technologies to African countries and the development of mutually beneficial partnerships.

Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko announced this at the IV International Summit on Food Security, writes Ukrinform.

“Today, Grain From Ukraine is transitioning to a new qualitative format — Food from Ukraine. This is our strategic course. We are moving away from a country that exports raw materials to a state that creates world-class food products, which ensures the stability of international markets and helps those who need this support the most in the world. Food from Ukraine means the export of approaches, technologies and the development of partnerships that help Africa feed itself and develop. We are moving from providing humanitarian aid to a model of mutually beneficial development,” the Prime Minister said.

According to her, since the beginning of the full-scale war, Ukraine has exported 66 million tons of food to countries in Asia, Africa and the Middle East.

“We delivered food even when our ports were hit, when our ports were blocked, when terminals and warehouses were destroyed, when Russian missiles were targeting farmers in the fields. And this is our conscious choice. Ukraine is a state that is forced to defend itself, but in such times we are ready and help others, those who really need it,” emphasized Yulia Svyrydenko.

The Prime Minister noted that this humanitarian initiative helped provide food to more than 20 million people from vulnerable categories in Africa and the Middle East.

As previously reported by USM, at the end of October this year it became known that since 2022, more than 300 thousandtons of agricultural products have been sent under Grain from Ukraine.
