Brussels discusses attacks on Russian tankers in the Black Sea

The foreign ministers of Bulgaria, Romania and Turkey have stressed the importance of Black Sea security for the three NATO littoral states.

On Wednesday, December 3, in Brussels on the sidelines of a NATO ministerial meeting, Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan met with the ministers of Bulgaria and Turkey, writes European Pravda.

In particular, the ministers discussed the recent drone attacks on tankers heading to Russian ports in the Black Sea.

“During the meeting, the importance of Black Sea security for the three NATO littoral states was emphasized, as well as the need for freedom of navigation and compliance with international legal norms in the Black Sea,” said a representative of the Turkish Foreign Ministry.

As previously reported by USM, on November 28, two sanctioned tankers Kairos and Virat, which are part of the so-called “shadow fleet” of the Russian Federation, caught fire in the Black Sea off the coast of Turkey as a result of an attack.

The Turkish Foreign Ministry expressed concern over the attack on tankers of Russia’s “shadow fleet”.

Later, on December 2, it became known that another Russian tanker was attacked near the coast of Turkey.
