Additional measures are being implemented in ports to protect infrastructure and vessels, — Ministry of Development

Despite the constant attacks by the Russian Federation on port, energy and railway infrastructure, Ukraine continues to ensure the operation of maritime exports.
This was reported by the Deputy Prime Minister for the Reconstruction of Ukraine – Minister for Development of Communities and Territories Oleksiy Kuleba.
As the minister noted during a meeting with the Ukrainian Seaports Authority in the Odesa region, work is currently underway daily to strengthen the security of seaports. In particular, the USPA, in cooperation with the military, law enforcement agencies and business, is implementing additional measures to protect the infrastructure and ensure the safe passage of vessels.
They are also working on the safety of port workers – work is underway to install shelters.
In addition, backup power sources are being introduced in ports, cogeneration units are being installed, and critical infrastructure is being modernized. Ports are adapting to work in conditions of energy restrictions.
“The security of Ukrainian ports today is not only a matter of Ukraine’s economy. Our task is to protect infrastructure, people and ensure continuity of supplies even in war conditions,” emphasized Oleksiy Kuleba.
The minister recalled that the Ukrainian maritime corridor operates under constant military threat. Since the beginning of its operation, more than 162 million tons of cargo have been processed, of which more than 98 million tons are grain. Almost 7 thousand vessels have passed through the corridor.
Earlier, the Ministry of Development said that the ports of the Odesa region are operating despite Russian shelling.
