Drones attacked three Greek tankers in the Black Sea near the CPC terminal

Unidentified drones attacked three tankers in the Black Sea as they were heading to load oil at the Caspian Pipeline Consortium (CPC) terminal.

According to Reuters, the attack on the tankers took place on Tuesday, January 13.

One of the affected tankers, the Delta Harmony, is operated by the Greek company Delta Tankers, LSEG data showed. According to Reuters sources, it was supposed to load Kazakh oil for Tengizchevroil, a unit of the American oil company Chevron.

Another tanker, the Matilda, operated by the Greek company Thenamaris, was supposed to load oil from Karachaganak. A representative of the company Thenamaris said that the Matilda was attacked by two drones 30 miles from the CPC terminal.

Regarding the Delta Tankers tanker, maritime security sources reported that a fire broke out on board, which was extinguished.

In particular, it was initially reported that another vessel, the Freud, operated by the Greek company TMS, was attacked. However, TMS later denied the information about its damage.

It should be noted that Ukraine did not report the damage to tankers, and the CPC refused to comment on the attack.

As previously reported by USM, the tanker Delta Harmony from the so-called “shadow fleet” was spotted near Novorossiysk.
