Russia sent two tankers with oil and gas to Cuba despite US blockade

Russia has sent two oil and gas tankers to Cuba. If the ships reach Cuba, they will be the first energy supplies to the island in three months.

This is reported by the Financial Times.

The Hong Kong-flagged Sea Horse tanker is carrying about 27,000 tons of Russian gas. In February, the ship changed course and has been heading to Cuba since then. The tanker is expected to arrive there on March 30.

The Russian-flagged Anatoly Kolodkin is carrying about 100,000 tons of crude oil. It is due to arrive in Cuba on April 4.

If the tankers reach their destination, they will be the first energy supplies to Cuba in three months. The last shipment of oil was delivered to Cuba from Mexico on January 9, but the country has since stopped supplying energy to the island.

Cuba has not received any oil supplies from Venezuela since December 2025, after US forces detained its leader, Nicolas Maduro.

After weeks of a US oil blockade, Cuba’s power system went down. This caused a nationwide blackout.

Earlier, USM reported that Russia plans to organize military convoys to protect the “shadow fleet.”
