New Russian attack damages Kernel sunflower oil transshipment terminal in Odesa region

On the morning of July 14, the Russian Federation attacked the Kernel terminal for transshipment of sunflower oil in the Odessa region.
The company said that as a result of the strike, a large-scale fire broke out, which damaged half of the sunflower oil storage tanks and the terminal infrastructure.
The fire damaged about 25,000 tons of products belonging to Kernel and the American company that stored its oil at this asset.
The coordinated work of the Kernel port enterprise team, the State Emergency Service units, and assistance from neighboring terminals allowed the fire to be localized and extinguished in the shortest possible time – within 12 hours. The prompt actions of the rescuers prevented the fire from spreading to other facilities and prevented the leakage of sunflower oil into the sea. There were no injuries among the employees.
The company is currently eliminating the consequences of the attack and assessing the extent of the damage.
“Targeted attacks on Ukrainian port infrastructure are attacks not only on Ukrainian business. They undermine global food security and the stability of world food supplies,” the company emphasized.
Earlier, USM reported that the Kernel oil terminal had come under Russian attack for the third time in four days.
