WFP representatives visited the port of Chornomorsk

Representatives of the World Food Program (WFP) in Ukraine paid a working visit to the seaport of Chornomorsk.

This was reported by the Chornomorsk Seaport Authority.

From the Ukrainian side, the meeting was attended by Oleksiy Zhornyak, First Deputy Head of the Chornomorsk Seaport Authority, Vitaliy Lipsky, Deputy Head of the Branch, Iryna Babeshko, Head of the Strategic Development Department, and other administration specialists.

The purpose of the visit of the foreign guests was to get acquainted with the work of the Chornomorsk seaport on the export of grain and related food products within the framework of the activities of the UN WFP.

WFP representatives inspected the port infrastructure facilities that were damaged as a result of Russian attacks in order to obtain reliable information and assess the humanitarian consequences of the war for the civilian population and overall food security.

“Since the beginning of the year, Ukrainian seaports have processed more than 15 million tons of cargo, which indicates the relative stability of exports. Unfortunately, we have to state that attacks on port infrastructure are not only systemic, but have also intensified. But, thanks to our Defense Forces, even against the backdrop of regular attacks, port workers are working and providing food to dozens of countries,” Oleksiy Zhornyak noted.

Currently, more than 90% of Ukrainian agricultural products are exported by sea.

Earlier, USM reported that the Ministry of Development and Trade reported on the progress of the concession in the port of Chornomorsk.
