Two ships came under Russian attack: one crew member died

On the night of June 22, Russian drones attacked two civilian vessels heading to Ukrainian ports.

This was reported by the Ministry for Development of Communities and Territories of Ukraine.

As a result of the attack and the drone strike, a fire broke out on a vessel flying the Panamanian flag.

A crew member, a 58-year-old cook, a citizen of Egypt, was killed.

“Eight sailors, including citizens of Turkey and India, were forced to evacuate on a life raft. The vessel suffered significant damage and lost its seaworthiness,” the ministry reported.

Also that night, the Russians attacked vessels flying the flags of Palau and Belize. Fortunately, there were no casualties, the vessels continued their journey with the damage.

Recall that the Russian attacks caused over $1.5 billion in damage to Ukrainian ports.

In 2025, the Russian Federation carried out about 150 strikes on Ukrainian ports, while in the first half of 2026 alone, their number already exceeded 180.
