EU imposes sanctions for the first time against a crewing company linked to the Russian shadow fleet

The issue is connected with the White Agate Marine SPC company.

The European Union, within the framework of the 21st package of sanctions, has for the first time imposed restrictions on a crewing company that provided for the activities of the Russian shadow fleet. This was confirmed by the Presidential Commissioner for Sanctions Policy of Ukraine Vladislav Vlasyuk.

We are talking about White Agate Marine SPC. According to Vlasyuk, the company provided for the operation of vessels used to transport Russian oil in circumvention of international sanctions.

Reference. White Agate Marine SPC is registered in Oman. In EU sanctions documents, the company is also associated with Dreamer Shipmanagement LLC-FZ, registered in the UAE.

According to the GUR of the Ministry of Defense, White Agate Marine SPC is associated with a number of tankers of the Russian shadow fleet, including Solaris, Galaxy, Jasmine, Voyager and Zaliv Baikal. These vessels transported Russian oil using sanctions circumvention schemes, including disabling the Automatic Identification System (AIS) and changing routes.

In addition, the 21st EU sanctions package expanded the list of Russian shadow fleet vessels subject to restrictions. In total, the EU sanctions already cover 673 vessels.

Also, as USM reported the day before, the UN Security Council will convene an emergency meeting due to the Russian Federation’s attacks on ships in the Black Sea.
