Russia attacked the Mera Queen ship: Ukrainian sailor killed


On the evening of August 5, Russian forces attacked the civilian ship Mera Queen under the flag of Guinea-Bissau. As a result of the attack, a crew member, a citizen of Ukraine, died.

According to the USPA, the remaining sailors were evacuated to shore.

As of 06:00 on August 6, the ship was moored to the pier. Specialists are conducting priority work to localize the consequences of the damage and stabilize its technical condition.

The USPA report notes that for over a month, Russia has been attacking Ukrainian port infrastructure, civilian merchant vessels in the port area and vessels traveling along the Ukrainian sea corridor almost daily.

Such attacks were called part of a targeted campaign against freedom of navigation in the Black Sea.
