Grain exports by rail decreased by 67% in August

In the first 25 days of August, Ukraine exported 461 thousand tons of grain cargo by rail — 67% less than in July.

This was reported by RAIL.insider following the meeting of Ukrzaliznytsia with agricultural market participants.

Compared to the same period last year, grain export transportation by rail decreased by 77%.

The main volume — 343 thousand tons — was transported through western border crossings. 56 thousand tons were sent to the ports of Great Odesa, 56 thousand tons to Izmail, and 6 thousand tons to Reni.

At the same time, grain transportation to Izmail increased 6.3 times compared to July. Currently, more than 1.8 thousand wagons are heading to the station.

Ukrzaliznytsia noted that unloading at Danube ports is complicated by prolonged air strikes. Since the beginning of August, their total duration has exceeded nine days.

Earlier, Ukrzaliznytsia changed the rates for the use of wagons in September.
