Romania wants to increase the transit of Ukrainian grain through the port of Constanta

Romania supports the expansion of Ukrainian grain transit through the port of Constanta for further export to the Middle East and Africa.

This was stated by Romanian Foreign Minister Oana Coiu, writes the publication Сugetliber.

According to her, increasing supplies of Ukrainian grain to foreign markets can help contain world food prices. Currently, the global grain price index is approximately 6-7% higher than a year ago.

The expansion of transit was discussed during a recent meeting between Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, Romanian President Nicos Dan and Moldovan President Maia Sandu.

One of the options involves the delivery of Ukrainian grain to the port of Constanta with subsequent shipment to markets outside the EU through “solidarity corridors”.

Bucharest, however, advocates the transit of Ukrainian agricultural products through the territory of Romania without their accumulation on the internal market of the European Union.

In this case, Constanta could strengthen its role as one of the key regional hubs for Ukrainian agricultural exports to Africa and the Middle East.

Earlier, USM reported that Romania and Ukraine will develop fuel supply infrastructure via river routes.
