Scheduled maintenance work completed on the icebreaker “Noosfera” in Cape Town

The research vessel left the dry dock. The “Noosfera” was marked with marks of completed Antarctic seasons.

The other day, all work in the dry dock was completed on the icebreaker Noosphere. Scientists also talked about all the stages – from the arrival of the Noosphere to the dock to its departure.

“This time, the “Noosfera” left the dry dock with marks of completed Antarctic seasons, and it already has five of them. Each mark has the number of the expedition that our icebreaker delivered to Vernadskyi,” said the captain of the “Noosfera”, Pavlo Panasyuk.

As previously reported by USM, during the scheduled maintenance of the vessel in Cape Town (South Africa), where the “Noosfera” is based between Antarctic expeditions, the underwater part of the hull was cleaned and painted, the propeller, bottom and outboard fittings and other elements were serviced.

Separately, the navigation equipment was modernized. In particular, modern echo sounders were installed.
