Ukrainian hackers gained access to secret navigation systems of the Russian fleet

The array contains documentation on nuclear submarines, frigates, corvettes and Arctic ships of the Russian Federation – in particular with the “top secret” stamp.

The hacker group Ukrainian Militant announced a large-scale compromise of the scientific and production base of the Russian Navy. The operation was called “Poseidon”, the community reported.

According to the hackers, the attack hit the leading developers and manufacturers of naval equipment: Central Design Bureau MT “Rubin”, SPMBM “Malachite”, Central Research Institute “Electroprylad”, Concern “Okeanprilad”, JSC “Elara”, Concern “Vega” and the State Scientific Research Navigation and Hydrographic Institute (GNINGI).

The documents, according to the hackers, concern the nuclear and diesel-electric submarine fleet, modern frigates, corvettes, landing and Arctic ships. Among them are nuclear submarines of the project 949AM “Antey”, diesel-electric submarines of the project 636.3 “Varshavyanka”, frigates of the project 22350, corvettes of the project 20386, patrol ships of the project 23550, landing ships of the projects 11711 and 23900, as well as Arctic ships of the project 23770.

The largest block of materials, according to the group, concerns ship and underwater navigation, hydroacoustics, integrated control systems, radio navigation, marine robotics and autonomous navigation of underwater vehicles without satellite systems. The hackers claim to have received technical specifications, diagrams, algorithms, data exchange protocols and test results. This, according to them, is enough to recreate the architecture of a number of systems.

Separately, the array contains primary data on the seabed and marine environment: materials from expeditions, Arctic research, precise coordinates and depths, bathymetric, acoustic and gravimetric data. The documents also record the participation of specialists in supporting 70 projects of ships, vessels and submarines that are being built or modernized.

Some of the materials, according to the hackers, are marked “for official use”, “secret” and “top secret”.
